Find Your North. You see it in our branding, our social media, and even our water bottles. It is North Waters' catch phrase so to say. How did we come up with it? What does it even mean? As a brand this decision was obviously a big one. We wanted to resonate with our future supporters like yourselves; but then we asked ourselves what you would appreciate most? That is when the decision was made to be true to ourselves first, and hope to align through commonality with our audience. What change do both of us want to see and be in this world? Of course this slogan means to enjoy adventure, dare to explore, and live the life you truly desire; but it is much more than that. This is not just a hashtag, or a slogan, but a mindset and a way of life.
To properly understand we have to go back to the very origin of the thought to start this company. North Water was born out of a great love for our very own Canadian backyard. So many times it feels like for a country with so much to offer, Canada is under represented in the global marketplace, even the domestic marketplace. Fiji water, Icelandic water, the countless American waters. In the heart of the Rocky Mountains, there was no Canadian alternative. Our mission here is to be a small solution to a much larger environmental problem and offer an amazing resource to the world. Finding Our North was undertaking the responsibility we felt to both the Canadian people and Canadian outdoors to supply a beautiful resource as well as help be a solution to a very ugly problem. In a broader sense, ‘Find Your North’ can be related to finding your difference in this world; no matter how big or small. Small actions can have a ripple or compounding effect. Whether it be in the name of a larger problem, or in your individual and personal life, having the courage to make a change can be ever so challenging; but in finding this courage you can feel fulfilled and purposeful. Here at North Water we strive every day to find that courage within ourselves and hope to help inspire you to do the same.
We have all heard the quote “Be the change you want to see in the world”. This is simply another way of stating that small individual actions by many can result in great change. Never feel like you’re too small to fix a big problem. The North Water community is growing, and together we can have a large impact; and hopefully, you’ll find your North along the way.
On a bit of a lighter note, don’t put the weight of the world on your shoulders. Get outside and enjoy yourself. By simple undertakings like this we can make this world a better place to live, or at minimum a more enjoyable place to be.
Keep us updated on your journey, to finding your North.
